Meet Our Dedicated Volunteers

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the Red Cross, both here in Cayman and across the globe. With endless compassion and dedication, Red Cross volunteers give of themselves selflessly as they respond to natural and man-made disasters in their communities.

As the frequency and intensity of emergencies, disasters, and disruptive events increases in the Cayman Islands and throughout the world, we remain committed to addressing each new challenge. The Cayman Islands Red Cross empowers ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts in emergency situations. We train. We mobilize. We connect.

Whether the landfill is burning or the earth underneath our feet is shaking, a hurricane threatens us all or a house fire disrupts a single family, Red Cross volunteers are always there. Our volunteers watch over us at national events, keep us safe in our shelters, welcome us in our Thrift Shop, serve in leadership positions, and advocate for the most vulnerable among us.

During the global pandemic, our volunteers have taken on new and challenging roles to respond to the ever-changing landscape of our national COVID-19 response. We staffed the testing centers, delivered food and supplies to those in quarantine, and ensured our children were ready to return to school. Most recently, we have been a lifeline for families directly impacted by rising community transmission who find themselves in isolation with no notice.

COVID has also served as a catalyst for us to expand our reach into community support: our Support Our Seniors volunteers have been vital in assisting our elderly to live in the community with the necessary support by providing transportation to medical appointments, picking up prescriptions, and assisting with minor household tasks. Our volunteers are helping to ensure that our seniors can live safely at home with dignity.

Thank you, volunteers, for your contributions to our community and for enabling the Cayman Islands Red Cross to ensure the needs of our most vulnerable do not go unmet.
